Art works showcased at 2015 Ofala Festival

The 2015 edition of the Ofala festival saw an artistic introduction as there was a group art exhibition on display.
Titled Oreze III , 20 busts in honour of departed kings of Onitsha were also showcased in the group exhibition. The busts were also reportedly made of cement and done by the palace artistes.
The art exhibition which was part of the festival was curated by George Edozie and it featured diverse artists from Nigeria and the Diaspora.
According to the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty,
Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe , chief host of the Ofala festival, “ About 150 works of artists from across the world were exhibited at Ofala.”
Edozie who is a big supporter of the arts noted that such artists who have benefited from the patronage of the Obi cut across countries such as “Germany, Belgium, UK, France, Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo and the US who sent in their works because of the support the Obi has given to Nigerian artists and others from all over the world”
Some of said artists include Abdulrasaq Ahmed, Abraham Uyovbisere, Chinwe Uwatse, Ato Arinze, Bimbo Adenugba, Dr. Peju Layiwola, Emeka Nwagbara, Godfrey Williams Okorodu, Joe Amenechi among others.
The Oreze art exhibition which was part of the Ofala festival started in 2013 and is expected to grow stronger, according to the Obi.
