You know the yuletide season is round the corner when word of the Calabar Carnival hits.
Preparations for the 2015 edition of the carnival have begun in earnest as the Cross River state government has began demolition and clearing of old structures at the carnival's new venue, Old Calabar Zoo Garden .
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr Kenneth Aklah , Special Adviser to the Governor on Events Management said new structures suitable for the carnival would be constructed, adding that bidding for jobs at the venue had also begun.

He further said this year’s carnival has been packaged so as to encourage investors and participants.
Speaking further, he revealed that the forestry commission, Calabar Urban Development Authority and the state’s Water Board were working together to ensure the preservation of the environment during and after the festival.
